Casa De Emdeko 237

My wife and I stayed at the Casa de Emdeko #237 and it was simply incredible. Where to start? You just can't escape the amazing views from this property. From the lanai you have great views of the ocean, the pools, the courtyard and all the natural beauty that the grounds have to offer. I was a big fan of the gentleman who used a large papaya grabber to fetch his breakfast from the papaya tree each morning! We entertained some friends over the weekend and the spacious lanai was large enough for multiple simultaneous activities. I particularly loved the day bed :) Inside, the generous kitchen bar was perfect for both cooking and eating large meals and the space saved by not needing a separate dining room table really opened the place up. I loved the double couches! The gem of this property has to be the walk-in shower though. It's been a long time since I've been in such a luxurious shower with a wall-mount head on one side and a hand-held on the other. Great way to start the day. The people at Casa de Emdeko were very sweet and made us feel right at home. Each night, many residents gathered at the shore-side to celebrate the sunset. Some blew traditional horns while everyone else tried to catch a glimpse of the famous Green Flash. Afterward, my wife and I would relax in the salt water pool and watch the waves crash against the rocks. The location is also perfect. It's a short walk to the Green Flash Cafe where you can get bagel sandwiches and great local coffee. Across the street is a large Farmers Market and it's only 5 minutes to town where all the fun shops and restaurants are. My wife and I loved it so much we're already planning a trip again later this year. Truly a great place to enjoy everything the island has to offer!

Our experience was great. The property was spacious, well located, well-appointed, and well maintained. The situation was perfect for long spells of relaxation. The management was very responsive, and we would be very happy to return. Excellent in all respects.

This unit was on the second floor of a 3 story bldg with great views of the ocean. Overall location was good, however, walking distance to downtown Kona was a bit far, 1.3 miles, 30 minute walk. Loved the salt water pool and the grounds of the complex were very well kept. The unit was great with an extra 1/2 bath and a wonderful lanai.

Unit 237 has become our "home away from home" when we visit the Big Island. The feeling we get here is truly special. Casa de Emdeko is a great complex and unit 237 is, in our opinion just what we need to relax and enjoy the Kailua Kona area. It is decorated in Hawaiian style and its location in the complex is great (one unit from the Ocean). Having 2 bathrooms is a welcome feature as well! Already planning our next visit!

This is the second time we have stayed in this unit as it is perfect for us. We love location as the proximity to the ocean and pool. The kitchen is very well appointed. There is everything you could want or need. The washer dryer this year made a world of difference also.
The only thing I couldn’t find in the kitchen was a cutting board.

We had a wonderful 8 night stay at this property! The condo was very clean and the kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked with everything we needed The location was perfect, nice and quiet but an easy, few minute drive into downtown Kona for shopping or restaurants or south to Magic Sands or Captain Cook. The view from the lanai was outstanding and I miss it already! There was plenty of furniture both inside and outside for comfortable seating, but I will say that I found the bed to be too soft and not as comfortable (though I know that is very subjective). Wouldn't deter me from coming back though, as this condo was absolutely perfect for us. It was just my husband and I, so the size was perfect. It was plenty spacious for the 2 of us, but may have been a little small for a family. The extra half bath was much appreciated. The complex is very well kept and very quiet at night. We loved the salt water pool and beach area and enjoyed sitting in the courtyard in the evenings with tiki torches lit and watching the waves roll in. Knutson and Associates were very easy to work with and checked in with us during our stay to make sure everything was perfect for us - which it was. We had no issues or problems at all while we were there. If we ever have the privilege to come back to the Big Island, I would absolutely stay here again and wouldn't look anywhere else.

We loved how close the condo was to the water, and each night would sit on the Lani and listen to the crashing waves! We highly recommend the relaxed atmosphere of the Case de Emdeko property.

#237 is a very inviting and comfortable place to stay. Everything in the kitchen was great and the amount of space was great - it was a bit tight once all 4 of us (two adults, two tween/teens) were in the space, but only when it came to maneuvering around a sleeping teen, which was not a surprise. The outside space is nice in the morning and the evenings, a great view of the sunset from the door or a walk down the steps to the lava rock wall, the pools were in great shape and the salt water pool was the favorite. The unit is in a nice location for getting to downtown Kona and we didn't hear any road noise as the unit is on the ocean end of the resort. I would happily return to this unit!

We always stay at Casa De Emdeko when we go to Kona-the location is great for us-just down from downtown ali'i drive which makes for a nice walk every morning. This was the nicest one we have stayed in because of the balcony set up and being right near the end of the units near the ocean. The amenities were fine-not having a washer and dryer in the unit was the only knock against it. They did have beach chairs for you to use and we used those at both hapuna and Makalawea beaches. We will definitely stay here again.

Attention has been given to details like comfortable furniture, outlet placement, night lights, a refridgerator I'd like to take home, kitchen utensils, everything. Renovation was top notch. Great master bath and separate powder room. Nice desk adjacent to the kitchen. Room for indoor and outdoor dining.
Overlooks beach area, salt water pool and great view of the ocean.
Will definitely look for an opportunity to return.

Lovely unit, well maintained, great view, nicely appointed. Great TV for movie nights. Would recommend updating kitchen range/oven as elements seem to be inconsistent in temperature. No light above range and "surface hot red warning light" does not turn off. A light near the master bedroom toilet would be a welcome improvement. Aside from these minor issues the unit itself was above average compared to many of the 52 year old condos at the Casa. Our family were original owners of 116 and enjoyed over 40 years of long vacations in what we considered our second home. It held a special place in our hearts. This is the first time I've noticed a change in how the residents engage with renters, somewhat negative and cold.... far from the Aloha spirit of Hawaii we usually felt at the Casa.. Also the emergency construction in the adjacent unit should have been coordinated with Knutson and/or nearby units so we could avoid the horrible noise of a jackhammer on concrete that shook our unit. We did appreciate the follow up with Knutson after we complained about the noise that, at this point, had been going on for 3 or 4 days .In the future, we would advise Knutson to inform their clients of these unforeseen but necessary inconveniences while they are at the Casa so they can plan their day avoiding this.

We loved staying in this condo. The condo is updated with a very nice kitchen and shower. Our favorite part of the condo was the lanai which had a lounge bed and comfy furniture. There are trees blocking the view of the ocean as indicated in the photos, but you can hear the ocean waves from the balcony and overall you feel like you are right on the ocean. Every night we went to watch the beautiful sunset on the beach right outside the condo. The condo was equipped with beach chairs and lots of beach towels. We purchased a small umbrella and left that behind for the next guests. There were also fans in the closet which was nice. The air keeps it cool, but we like the extra noise at night. Overall, the condo had everything we needed and more. It was very quiet and private, the complex did not seem busy. The location is very convenient to Kailua-Kona with lots of restaurants and shopping a 5-minute drive away. You could also walk to town if you wanted, about 20 minutes. We can't wait to come back someday.

Lovely spot with nice amenities. I recommend it for a couple or a small family. The space is nicely decorated, updated, and has AC. The ocean view is blocked by beautiful old frangipani trees. The community is friendly and welcoming. Great lava rock wall to sit and view the waves, dolphins, sunsets, and tide pools with crabs, fish, and eels. No elevator to bring bags up and down. The Saltwater pool was out of order during my short stay but the regular pool was open, and construction on passageways was going on. The work hours were reasonable and workers friendly. It impacted parking near accommodations, but all this shall pass, and the property will be better for it. Only small improvements would be the screen doors front and back, providing a starter laundry detergent, and connecting overhead light to switch in the main bedroom. I would stay here again without hesitation.

If you had children you could not stay there because of the danger to stop any children going onto the lanai without supervision also anyone who is not strong would not have been able to move the door.
We spoke to management at the complex who were well
aware of the problem we encountered.
The owners had placed a blue sponge over the top mattress which was most uncomfortable and hot also the linen did not fit the bed properly we were paying customers and should have been treated accordingly. There were not enough wine glasses or flutes always appears to be one missing.
The bathroom was wonderful. The grounds were beautifully maintained.

Casa de Emdeko 237 is a lovely condo complete with everything needed for a wonderful vacation! The property is well taken care of and the owners are well loved in their community as several folks stopped to help us with the grill or offer comments on this great condo. We did see much of the island and had lots of adventures, but it was always nice to know we had this great place to come back to. Breakfast and dinner on the patio to the sound of the waves and lots of puzzles from the shared library downstairs made this even more special. My daughter and I highly recommend this condo! The condo was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed breakfast on the deck listening to the surf, and the pool and beach chairs near the water. Knutson and Associates were very helpful meeting us at check-in and offering tips on restaurants in the area.

The Casa De Emdeko really feels like a Big Island resort should. Beautiful mature gardens, great saltwater pool and the most awesome oceanside sunsets you will ever experience! Unit 237 captures the feel of Hawaii as well, it is a beautiful remodel and decorated perfectly. We relaxed in comfort and will be back as soon as we can!

the unit in itself was nice but there was no water in the 1/2 bath sink .the volume on the TV was locked and hard to hear for us at the set volume. the facility on the other hand ..
we rented a 2nd floor unit because there is a elevator. however there are stairs in the corridor every 2 units .. 4 steps 1 set had no handrail. we are not handicapped but we do have a disability that stairs are a issue. there is no statements on this site that these stairs are present . and posed some issues for us . Also parking is a real issue we were never in 10 days able to park any closer than 1 block from the unit outside the secure fence of the facility. Again a issue because of our disabillity . when we arrived the person sent to show us around did not stay any longer than to open the door . did not show us around the unit at all and seemed to be in a hurry to be somewhere else. very unprofessional
Oceanview is blocked by trees.

We stay for 10 days at Casa de Emdeko #237. The owners went above and beyond in the renovation of their rental! The washer/dryer was a God-send. The fruit basket from K&A was unexpected. We enjoyed having a small, manicured beach area, just for our condo complex. We will rent again. A small water leak in the powder room dampened our giving 5 stars.

The unit was wonderful. Lia was there to great us with a gift basket. Thank you. The kitchen had brand new appliances with an extra large refrigerator with a water filter and an ice dispenser. For our leftovers we had snapware containers (the best). Downstairs in the gazebo, coffee was available every morning.

Everything was alright! A part from the tree that was hidding the ocean from the balcony. We felt unlucky compared to our opposite side neighbors who had full view.
Second, we didn't enjoy the sea water swimingpool which was closed until our last day of vacation. I choose that facility because of my wife who is afraid of the ocean, I wanted her to swim in the sea water pool to initiate facing her fear of water.
The facility was clean, everything working, We will be back, but preferably when that tree gets trimmed a little bit.

My husband and I stayed at Casa Emdeko #237 in June of 2021. We would highly recommend it! The new interior remodel is spectacular. Everything from top to bottom appeared to be recently renovated, from the floors to the paint to the tasteful new light fixtures. The sparkling kitchen was appointed with all new, high-end appliances, cabinets, and countertops. Both bathrooms were newly renovated with artistic tile, elegant fixtures, and an amazing walk-in shower. The furniture in the villa was lovely and comfortable, very Hawaiian in style, complimented with gorgeous local artwork, perfectly rounding out the island theme.This condo was a great "base camp" for our island exploring excursions. We found fantastic beaches and excellent restaurants to be just a short drive (or sometimes walk!) away. My husband enjoyed the condo's big screen TV, while I loved the beautifully appointed and comfortable lanai for my morning coffee and evening glass of wine.Casa Emdeko is located directly on the ocean, so we could see and hear it whenever we were "home". We watched fantastic sunsets every night at the waterfront, beckoned by a resident blowing the conch shell - a traditional call to come on down and enjoy the beauty.Casa Emdeko 237 was a retreat in paradise that we sincerely hope to revisit.Sincerely,Mary & Tom O'Rourke

My husband and I spent a week at this lovely condo. We found "#237" to be very clean, inviting, and wonderfully comfortable. Everything appeared to be brand new - from the paint to the floors to the gorgeous furniture, sparkling new appliances, and most tastefully appointed bathrooms and kitchen. Even the art work we were surrounded with was stunning! My husband loved the big screen TV and I loved the lanai - where we could watch the ocean while relaxing with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need. We came to love watching the spectacular sunsets from the beach right below the condo, and met some great people relaxing in the the beautifully landscaped courtyard. This rental was a perfect location for our (luxurious) "base camp" to explore the countless treasures of the Big Island. I enthusiastically recommend this property, and hope to return to it!

The place is lovely but once we committed to the rental and paid the fee, the paperwork started coming. We have never had to sign so much paperwork on a vacation rental. It was also repeatedly impressed on us how much the furnishings cost - thousands of dollars - and if anything was damaged it would be our responsibility to replace it even though part of our fee for the rental was an insurance policy. Lovely place but would not rent it again.
